The 2025 Uprise Experience: Houston Black Theatre Week Announces Full Line-Up

The curtain is set to rise on the 2025 Uprise Experience: Houston Black Theatre Week, headed by Founding Artistic Director Harold JAY Trotter. This year’s festival will once again bring together some of the most dynamic voices in Black theatre — with an expanded line-up of performances, events, and celebrations that honor our past while shaping the future.

Showing as this year's headlining productions are Odessa’s Cajun Cabaret from Julian Austin Presents – Friday & Saturday, October 24–25 and Dignity by Alexus Rhone – Saturday & Sunday, October 25–26th.
We're especially excited to announce new additions and special events to this year's line-up which include Master Classes for Actors & Writers – Monday & Tuesday, October 20–21. A Monologue Slam – Wednesday, October 22 at the Deluxe Theater, featuring both teen and adult divisions with exciting prizes (details coming soon). Andre the Prophet – A staged reading presented by Esurient Arts along with our 3rd Annual All Call Auditions and Houston Black Theatre Week Honors Ceremony – A star-studded celebration returning bigger and better than ever.
